Berry Smoothie

I am a picky smoothie drinker. The smoothie has to be the right texture, flavor and temperature for me to enjoy it.  If it’s too thick, I just can’t handle it. If it’s too sweet or too cold, I just don’t enjoy it! Needless to say, smoothies aren’t a regular part of my diet. However, I do make one occasionally and it has to be just right. My secret to the perfect smoothie is using a blend of frozen and fresh fruit.  Topping it off with granola gives it some texture - Yuuummmmm!! This smoothie is a blend of fresh and frozen strawberries/blueberries with coconut milk, chia seeds and protein powder. It packs a nice protein punch but also hits my sweet tooth in a not overly sweet way. I drink this after a workout or when I need an afternoon pick me up. Oh and it’s the most delightful color, so you feel insanely happy drinking it!

Berry Smoothie
This recipe makes a generous smoothie for one

Ingredients 
1 cup coconut milk or milk of your choice
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
A drop or two of vanilla extract
1/4 cup granola of your choice  

Procedure
Add milk, chia seeds, vanilla extract and protein powder to a blender and blend till smooth. Add in remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Add in more coconut milk to achieve desired consistency. Top with granola and enjoy!!
