Mmmmmmm mmm! That's all I have to say about this recipe! If you are tired of turkey and chicken give bison a try! Bison is extremely lean, 3.5 oz contains 28 grams of protein. To be honest, I can only eat half a burger, I get so full. And ladies, if your man is complaining about being hungry, feed him bison burgers! Brian said he was almost too full after eating one!
I kept the ingredients pretty simple, a little onion, spices, egg and panko bread crumbs. Honestly bison has such a wonderful taste and texture it doesn't need much to make it amazing! This recipe would also make for fabulous meatballs, instead of making patties simply roll into meatballs and bake them in the oven. Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think!
Makes 4 burgers
- 1 lb ground bison
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons milk or nut milk
- 1 tablespoon garlic and herb seasoning (I love Mrs.Dash's! )
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns or lettuce leaves
- Sliced onions, tomatoes and your favorite toppings
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl combine all ingredients except for buns and toppings and stir to combine. Using a 1/4 measuring cup, scoop up bison and shape into patties. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in oven for 15 minutes. Serve on a bun or lettuce and add your favorite toppings.
